Book Campaign 2008

The Alexandra Park School Library – or Study Centre – started from scratch when the school opened in 1999, and its provision of books is inevitably still inadequate for a student population that has increased dramatically in the last couple of years. The APSA Book Campaign was launched in 2006 to encourage parents and friends of Alexandra Park School to become personally involved in the development of the school’s Study Centre, by choosing individual books from an online wishlist to donate to it.

The Campaign was launched in 2006 with a wonderful literary and jazz evening, with local authors and students from the school reading from their work Throughout the year we had Book Campaign stalls at APSA events, and another very successful literary evening – renamed Bookfest! - was held on World Book Day 2007. The profits from these events – all spent on books for the Study Centre – as well as the cost of books bought direct from Amazon by parents and friends of APS - totalled nearly £1400. The authors who took part in our literary evenings also generously donated copies of their books to the Study Centre. In addition, Sage Publications gave £500 to the campaign, and Puffin Book Club contributed 7 books. We are very grateful to all donors.

The campaign continues, so check out our Amazon wishlist at any time to make a contribution to the Study Centre!
